Inviting all middle and high school teachers of multilingual learners!

Are you interested in learning strategies to integrate ELD and teach writing skills to multilingual learners while deepening thinking about essential content?  If so, please join The Writing is Thinking Professional Learning PLC!

• This semester-long PLC will meet on google classroom and will take place from the week of September 5 to December 12, 2023.
• Participants will get paid 2 hours of extended hours for each course topic (9 topics) for a total of 18 extended hours upon completion of the course.
  In addition, a Thursday WIT Task Workshop will be held on Zoom every 2 weeks to provide you with feedback on the WIT tasks you are developing throughout the course (additional paid extended hours).

More about Writing is Thinking through Strategic Inquiry: Writing is Thinking or WIT is a professional learning opportunity that focuses on sentence level strategies that form the heart of Judith Hochman’s Writing Revolution approach. It develops content knowledge, oral language, and additional scaffolds to effectively support student vocabulary and thinking across content areas. Through this approach, students build their knowledge and understanding of how English works. This professional development series addresses support for students at all English language levels, including SLIFE, and is relevant for educators of all secondary level grades, content areas, and student populations, including general education students and SPED. By engaging in this PD, teachers of all disciplines learn how to incorporate effective integrated ELD strategies into their curriculum in order to drive their content instruction. In addition, teachers of similar disciplines come together to share curriculum, tasks, and to plan collaboratively.
