Announcement Details
Summary
New students are eligible for reclassification with 2022-2023 ELPAC Summative Scores. We are initiating a Pre-Round 1 of reclassification so that eligible students can potentially begin the 23-24 SY already reclassified. We appreciate the teachers who are able to consult with the parent/guardian and make the recommendation for reclassification with short turnaround time.
Announcement Message
English Learner students who are eligible for Pre-Round 1 of reclassification have been added into the 2022-2023 Reclassification Tracker. Forms will be released on on May 17, 2023.
Who is eligible for Pre-Round 1?
- EL students who completed the 2022-2023 Summative ELPAC testing by May 6; AND
- Scored an overall performance level 4; AND
- Met cut score on at least one English basic skills assessment: Fountas & Pinnell, Reading Inventory, or Smarter Balanced ELA
Next Steps for Sites:
- Pre-Round 1 forms are due June 2. They will be emailed to site leaders and ELA/ELD teachers on May 17. We appreciate teachers who can consult with parents/guardians and submit their recommendation with short turnaround time.
- Completion of forms should be prioritized for secondary students, and those in transitional grades. This will allow eligible students to start the 2023-24 school year already reclassified, with full access to elective offerings.
- If forms are not received, eligible students will enter Round 1 next school year in Fall 2023.
Notes:
- Letters about student eligibility for Pre-Round 1 will be posted onto ParentVUE on the week of May 16.
- Outcome letters will be posted onto ParentVUE in July 2023.
- This toolkit on Google Drive contains reclassification resources.
