Students who receive health services during the school day (e.g. diabetes care, g-tube) are entitled to services being provided during day-trips and overnight trips, and Administrative Regulations for school-sponsored trips (BP 6153) have been updated to reflect changes in required timelines for notification and planning for students who receive health care services to attend field trips.   

• Teachers and Administrators planning for coverage should contact their School District Nurse or Central Nurse Coordinator at least 6 weeks before the trip in order to develop a plan and identify coverage.  
• If health service coverage is not identified, trips may need to be rescheduled.
