The C&I Math Department is excited to offer a five-day course for teachers with an interest in the SFUSD Complex Instruction program. This course will be held from June 6 to June 10, 2022. Current SFUSD teachers will be compensated at the extended hourly rate for each summer day (about $37.43 per hour, six hrs/day).
In this course, participants will learn the principles and practices of Complex Instruction, a pedagogy grounded in research that is centered on students' mathematical strengths and mitigating hierarchical status issues. Participants will gain tools and strategies that work towards providing ALL students—regardless of their racial, ethnic, language, socio-economic, or achievement backgrounds—equal-status participation in small groups and accountability for learning rigorous mathematics. If you and a teacher partner at your site or a small group of your colleagues are especially interested in focusing on math as your problem of practice, this opportunity could be a great fit for your team.
