Announcement Message
In accordance with Education Code 49414, every school in SFUSD should have designated staff who are trained to recognize symptoms of severe allergy (anaphylaxis), to administer an EpiPen (epinephrine auto-injector), and to be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). EpiPen/Anaphylaxis training should be renewed annually, CPR certification lasts 2 years.
Every site administrator must ensure there is at least 1 designated staff on-site who has been currently trained. Designated staff must voluntarily agree to be an anaphylaxis responder. Designated staff should fill out this Stock Epipen/Anaphylaxis Training Google Form to inform the Student and Family Services Division that they are willing to be an anaphylaxis responder, if they were trained to respond to anaphylaxis, and if they are certified in CPR. If designated staff need to be trained or re-trained, see below for more information.
The EpiPen/Anaphylaxis Training has three parts.
- Asynchronous google classroom that can be taken at your own pace (make a copy of the final assessment as proof of completion)
- Skill Checkoff at your school site, AFTER you complete the google classroom (to be arranged with the school-based or central School District Nurse)
