Announcement Details
Summary
The district's annual collection of old student records for shredding/destruction is delayed.
Announcement Message
The SFUSD warehouse staff that plays a vital role in rounding up the old records from all the school sites are severely short-staffed currently. While the district is actively working to hire new staff/drivers, we were informed to put the annual shredding/destruction on hold for now.
We do recommend that you go through with "boxing" the old records as per past years' instructions, in order to make room in your cabinets to store the new incoming students' folders at your site.
- All cum folders from June 2017 and earlier of students that no longer attend your school should be pulled and prepared for destruction. Remember it is SFUSD practice that cum folders are kept at the last school of attendance for five years unless the cum folder was requested by another school.
- All cum folders for non-enrolled students that have not been forwarded to another school and FIVE (5) or more years have lapsed (leave dates of June 2017 or earlier) must be checked to ensure that no brown Special Education Service Folders have been accidentally commingled. If you find such a Special Ed. folder, please hold it at your school site until the next "move up" period.
- Place cum folders in packages or boxes. Label them by writing the name of your school and the words “Outdated Records-FOR DESTRUCTION.”
- Place the "to-be-destroyed" boxes in a secured (locked and not accessible by students) location/room, and wait for further updates to be posted on OASIS as to when the pickup by warehouse staff can be scheduled.
We will update you as soon as we have more information on the collection timeline.
