Updated COVID-19 Guidance: Home Testing & Field Trips

Summary

SFUSD is not accepting COVID-19 tests done at home! And new guidance has removed restrictions from field trips during the day.

SFUSD not accepting COVID‑19 tests done at home!

Based on updated guidance from SFDPH, SFUSD currently is not accepting home tests as proof of negative COVID status.

SFDPH guidance concludes that we currently do not know how well home tests can detect COVID-19 when the test is performed on a child by the child’s caregiver or by an individual on themselves.

At this time, SFDPH does not recommend accepting home tests to end quarantine and home tests should not be used as part of a routine screening program for unvaccinated individuals.

Updates for Field Trips

Day Trips: All restrictions have been removed. Staff and students can go on field trips to outdoor or indoor destinations. If shared vehicles or public transportation is used, follow the same policies and guidance outlined in this document.

Overnight Trips: Are only allowed under the conditions set forth in Administrative Regulation 6153: School-Sponsored Trips.
