SFUSD generates around 5 million gallons of solid waste per year! That means over 30% of the school district’s waste stream goes directly to landfill. If you have ever looked into one of the black bins at your school, you may have noticed that many of those items could have been reused or repurposed in a creative way. Enter: SCRAP/SFUSD Material Reuse Pilot Program. Take advantage of this new opportunity to divert lightly used, good quality classroom supplies and give them a second life!
Donate items in 3 easy steps!
STEP 1: After reviewing the list of acceptable items, schools collect their classroom materials in boxes no larger than standard banker boxes or moving boxes and hold them at the site.
STEP 2: Once boxes are full and no more classroom materials donations are expected, schools contact SCRAP Felipe Colina (felipe@scrap-sf.org) to request a pick-up date and time.
NOTE: SCRAP has a 2 week lead time for pick-ups, so please schedule ahead of time.
STEP 3: On the day of pick-up, place SCRAP donation boxes at the front office or other easily accessible pick-up area for the SCRAP driver to collect.
