Many students have demonstrated proficiency in English and a language other than English (LOTE) to meet the requirements of the Seal of Biliteracy as a graduating senior in 2022. The requirements are described in the chart below. However, because the SBAC ELA was not administered in their junior year and the Reading Inventory assessment is not administered to juniors and seniors, there are a number of seniors who need to take the RI assessment this semester in order to earn the Seal of Biliteracy on their diploma.
Students who have met the language other than English requirement or who will likely meet this requirement, are indicated on this Illuminate Report. We are asking English teachers and test coordinators to support the students who need RI. Students will need to obtain an RI score of 1050 or higher. An account is set up for them in the SAM system. Use these instructions to administer the Reading Inventory. If you have any questions about RI assessment, please email aao@sfusd.edu.
If you have a student who has met the Seal LOTE requirements who is not listed on this report, please complete a Seal of Biliteracy 2022 application. Please email Monica Cope, copem@sfusd.edu with any additional questions.
