October Paraeducator PD: Antiracist Social Emotional Learning

Beginning in October, the Professional Learning & Leadership team (that runs the Paraeducator Institute) will be offering a monthly PD for SFUSD paraeducators offered 2x each month. October's topic is Antiracist SEL.

October Dates/Times

• 2nd Wednesday: October 13, 2:30-3:45pm (75 min)
• 3rd Wednesday: October 20, 2:30-4:00pm (90 min)

Paraeducators can attend during contract hours if permitted (early release or release with permission). If attending out of contract hours, paraeducators can utilize any of their remaining 18 PD Hours to attend for pay.

October PD description: Participants will better understand the goals of Social Emotional Learning, as well as the misuse and weaponization of SEL against BIPOC students and other oppressed/marginalized students. Participants will consider what a culturally-affirming and liberating SEL practice might look like in SFUSD, as well as actionable steps we can take now.
