Thank you for your continued attention to providing Designated ELD for English learners. It’s a requirement of both federal and state law that EL students are provided with integrated ELD and also designated ELD until students demonstrate advanced English language proficiency or a score of 4 on the summative ELPAC assessment.
Please review the report ELD Audit Grades 6-12 Schedule Array 2021-22 which identifies English learner students who require, but are not scheduled in a Designated ELD course.
Your next steps to complete by October 18th.
- Please make changes to student schedules to place into Designated ELD classes; and/or
- Notify Multilingual Pathways of any D-ELD sections that were missed in the audit that indicate students are receiving D-ELD
Lastly, if you have explained the benefits of designated ELD to students and families and they have requested to not be scheduled into D-ELD, please have families complete the Designated Opt Out form and return a copy to the Multilingual Pathways Department so we can verify and input into Synergy.
Please reach out to Amy Gottesfeld, gottesfelda@sfusd.edu, or Jan Bautista, bautistaj@sfusd.edu, in Multilingual Pathways with questions or for assistance.
