Announcement Details
Announcement Message
We are excited to announce that beginning next school year, all SFUSD employees and students will have a district-issued Apple ID. This account will be accessed using the same username and password as one’s SFUSD Google account. Each of these Apple IDs will come with 200GB of free iCloud storage which will provide a more seamless and secure experience when using district-issued Apple devices.
If you did not previously create an Apple ID using your SFUSD email address or you do not use Apple devices, you can stop reading this announcement. More information about how to access your new, district-issued Apple ID will be shared at a later date.
If you previously created an Apple ID using your @sfusd.edu email address, please read on:
- At approximately 3:30pm on June 1st,users with a conflicting @sfusd.edu Apple ID will receive an email from appleid@apple.com providing instructions on how to transfer it to a non-district email address. Here is a sample of what the email will look like: Update Apple ID. If you do not take action within 60 days of being notified by Apple, your existing @sfusd.edu Apple ID will automatically be changed to a new username that will look like PreviousUsername-sfusd.edu@temporary.appleid.com.
- Note, any Apple ID changed from its @sfusd.edu email address will retain all of its existing settings, content, purchase history, data, and password. The only thing changing is the name of the account and email address associated with it.
- You can still transition this Apple-issued ‘temporary’ Apple ID to a personal Apple ID if you miss the initial, 60-day window.
If you have any questions or need assistance transitioning your @sfusd.edu Apple ID, please visit support.apple.com/en-us/HT209349, contact Apple by phone at (800) APL–CARE (800–275–2273), or submit an SFUSD Help Desk ticket.
