ExCEL ASES Funding and In Person Programming
Karina Henriquez, SFCSD, ExCEL After School Programs
K-8
As noted in the Return Safely Together: SFUSD’s In-Person Learning Plan (page 39)
Community based partners receiving ExCEL grants who are currently providing distance learning support may provide in-person support for recess and lunch as the grant and resources allow. The agencies at school sites that are not part of Phase 2A or 2B will continue to provide virtual support for distance learning.
GIven that there is currently no timeline for returning to in person learning, schools sites may decide to explore whether the ExCEL ASES funding can support in person programming at a community hub or another off site location. The exploration should be with stakeholders (families, students, and after school program partners) who will be impacted by the decision.
Please review this memo which outlines a best practice process to follow to ensure equitable decision making with stakeholders who will be impacted by the decision.
