Announcement Message
School site leaders will receive list of students who are eligible for reclassification based on meeting two of the four reclassification criteria. Eligible students need to meet the remaining criteria of teacher evaluation and parent consultation to complete the process of reclassification. Eligible students were identified based on meeting these requirements:
- ELPAC Overall Performance Level 4
- “Overall” does not mean that a 4 is required in all subdomains, but rather that a score of 4 is required for the composite overall level.
- Demonstration of “basic skills” in English from an objective assessment (F&P, RI, or SBAC ELA) that is also given to English proficient students of the same age.
If you have questions about whether or not a student is eligible for reclassification based on the first two criteria, you can review student data on an Illuminate Report linked below:

Here are some important details about Round 2 reclassification:
- By the end of February, the Notices of Reclassification Eligibility will be posted on ParentVue for the families of English learners who are eligible. A physical copy of the letter will also be sent out to families in mid-February.
- Starting February 12th, MPD will send a list of eligible students at each school to principals and EL coordinators and pre-populated Google forms to ELD/ELA teachers.

Your school’s next steps:
- EL coordinators and School Administrators review the list of eligible students at your site.
- ELD/ELA teachers at your site will receive pre-populated google forms by email for students who are eligible for reclassification, and evaluate their students’ readiness for reclassification.
- By March 26th - The teacher or another school staff consults with the student’s family about the student’s readiness for reclassification. Parent agreement is required to reclassify any English learner. This must be documented on the pre-populated Google forms that will be sent to the ELD/ELA teachers starting February 12, 2021
- Due March 26th - The teachers complete and submit the pre-populated Google forms by March 26th. I have explained and demonstrated what this looks like in this short video.
