On Monday January 25 at 8PM the Department of Technology will upgrade the GlobalProtect VPN client.
What to expect? During this timeframe, we do not expect an outage. As a user the next time you connect with GlobalProtect you will receive a prompt that the client is downloading and installing in the background. After installation is completed, the client will restart which will disconnect the user from the corporate network. Once the client restarts the user will need to re-authenticate to connect to the corporate network.
Why these changes? The current version of the GlobalProtect VPN client is not supported on the latest Macintosh operating system, "Big Sur". The new version is compatible with Big Sur and all Microsoft Windows versions starting with Windows 7 SP1.
