Hello, 6-8th Grade E/LA and H/SS Lovers!

A team of History/Social Studies and English/Language Arts classroom teachers and C&I staff have collaborated on two sample units to offer 6-8th grade teachers as one approach to unit 1 in the distance learning setting.  

Next week, we will host two PD sessions for participants to collectively explore the sample unit and lessons and to collaborate across sites when considering potential adaptations. Both sessions will be recorded and posted to the SFUSD webinar recordings page for folks who are unable to attend the live sessions.

MS History/Social Studies Unit 1: A 6-week distance learning adaptable PBL unit designed for 6-8th grades with the driving questions: What is a community issue I care about, and how does it connect to my values and my identity? What can I commit to address this issue?  

H/SS Live PD Session: Tuesday, 8/25: 2-3:30pm

MS English/Language Arts Unit 1: A 4-week distance learning adaptable writing workshop unit designed for 6-8th graders with the driving questions: How can I use writing to discover and share more about my identity and what I value most? How can I participate in my community through writing?

E/LA Live PD Session: Thursday, 8/27: 2-3:30pm
