Announcement Message
April is SFUSD Pride month. SFUSD’s 30 year-old tradition of honoring the identities and history of the LGBTQ+ community in April represents our values as a community – there’s no wrong time to celebrate Pride. This year’s theme is: We Are the Change!
We are excited to announce that this year’s Superintendent’s Read Aloud will be Door By Boor: How Sarah McBride Became America’s First Openly Transgender Senator by Meeg Pincus. We are also honored that the Director of the San Francisco’s Office of Transgender Initiatives, Honey Mahogany, will share her own journey to public service with our secondary students.
We are rooted in the truth that our community of queer, transgender, and gender-expansive students and staff enrich our schools and deserve to feel seen and safe. While our efforts are bolstered by San Francisco Board of Education policies and California state law, these policies are only as meaningful as our collective commitment to making policy a reality. In the words of Heather McGhee, "We are greater than, and greater for, the sum of us."

Thank you for your support in helping us foster a safe and inclusive environment for all of our students!
