The application deadline to apply for the 2025-26 school year is approaching - Jan. 31, 2025. Here are the latest updates about enrollment:

New TK Classrooms available for the 2025-2026 school year

Any student born between Sept. 2, 2020 and Sept. 1, 2021 is eligible to apply for a spot in Transitional Kindergarten (TK)  at SFUSD for the 2025-26 school year. This year we have added 18 new TK classrooms across the city, several in schools that have not yet had TK before, including 6 new TK Classrooms added in the past month:

  • General Education at San Miguel Early Education School
  • General Education at Milk Civil Rights Academic Elementary
  • General Education at Garfield Elementary
  • Spanish Immersion at Flynn Elementary
  • Spanish Biliteracy at Bryant Elementary School (requires Spanish home language)
  • Spanish Biliteracy at Hillcrest Elementary School (requires Spanish home language)

If your child is eligible but you have not yet applied for a TK spot in SFUSD, the deadline is Jan. 31, 2025. If you have already applied but are interested in adding any of the above schools to your preference list, you can re-submit your online application at sfusd.edu/onlineapp - your new list of choices would overwrite your previous submission. Alternatively, you can complete the application revision form with your new list of choices and email it to the Enrollment Center at enrollinschool@sfusd.edu, or call 415-241-6085 to add these choices to your application.

Remember that all TK students are promoted to Kindergarten in the same program at the school where they attend TK, without having to re-apply through the enrollment process. You can read more about TK at sfusd.edu/TK

Brief guide for 2025-26 SFUSD enrollment

Step 1: Make your list of schools

  • Tips on choosing schools: wondering where to start? These 5 tips help you think through what is important to your family.
  • SFUSD School Finder: our online search tool uses your address plus filters like grades and programs to find schools that fit your needs.
  • SFUSD Enrollment Guide: provides more detailed information about each of our schools, as well as information about other key aspects of our school district (i.e. Special Education, Language Programs, etc.). Enrollment Guides are available for download in 7 different languages
  • SFUSD School Videos and Tours: once you have your initial list of schools you want to apply to, get to know them better by watching their videos or attending a school tour.

Step 2: Apply (online or with a paper application)

  • Whether applying online or by turning in a paper application in-person, if your student is new to SFUSD you will need to gather your required documents: student’s proof of birth, proof of home address, and parent/guardian’s picture ID.  View a list of acceptable proofs of birth, address, and identification.
  • Apply online at sfusd.edu/ola. That web page also has instructions to help you apply online in English, Spanish, and Cantonese.
  • If you prefer to submit a paper application, you can download and complete a PDF application and drop it off at one of our offices by Friday, Jan. 31, 2025 or email it to enrollinschool@sfusd.edu (office closes at 4:30 p.m.). You can also pick up a paper application in our offices. View our office locations
