Announcement Message
Dear SFUSD Community:
As we approach the upcoming presidential election next Tuesday, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the concerns and anxieties that many of us may be feeling. In times when we are unsure what will happen, it’s natural to feel a range of emotions—excitement, worry, and everything in between.
Elections not only impact our community but also influence our schools, our students, and our staff. Changes in leadership and policy can create uncertainty, and it is important that we come together as a supportive community during this time.
In SFUSD, we celebrate the diverse cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives in our schools and communities. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and empowered to thrive. We support each individual’s unique journey and strive to ensure that all voices are heard and respected. Our schools focus on creating learning experiences that honor our shared humanity and encourage mutual understanding.
I want to reassure you that our primary focus remains on the well-being and education of our students. Regardless of the election outcome, we are committed to maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for learning. We will continue to uphold our SFUSD core values and prioritize our mission to provide each and every student the quality instruction and equitable support required to thrive in the 21st century.
We have compiled the following resources for families about how to talk to children about the election:
Together, we can navigate this uncertain time and remain strong as a community. Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to San Francisco’s public schools.
Warm regards,
Dr. Su
