About the Resource Alignment Initiative
The Resource Alignment Initiative is a multifaceted plan to align SFUSD’s resources to its goals. It began in August 2023 with an honest discussion between SFUSD staff and the Board of Education about the current state of SFUSD’s schools and what steps we need to take to make them a better place for students.
SFUSD will facilitate two cycles of feedback before presenting criteria to the Board of Education in June 2024. SFUSD will engage the community to revise criteria for school mergers, co-locations, and closures. These cycles include:
- Sixteen in-person community sessions held in schools throughout the city
- Eight+ in-person sessions with our community-based organizations and partners
- Sixteen sessions with SFUSD family and student advisory councils & committees
- Two virtual town halls
- Two online surveys
On March 2, 2024, SFUSD held its annual District-wide Planning Summit where all School Site Councils came together to learn and plan together. At that summit, Dr. Wayne reiterated our commitment to creating strong, supportive learning environments for each and every student in each and every school each and every day, and announced the process for possible school closures, mergers, and co-locations.
A previous version of this webpage noted direct outreach to School Site Councils as part of the first phase of community engagement. We apologize that this was incorrectly added to the website. School Site Council members with questions about or input on the RAI should submit a ticket through Resource Link or speak with their principal.
