Announcing the NEW SFUSD Special Education Handbook - A Parent/Guardian's Guide to Your First IEP Meeting

This newly revised special education handbook was created to help families and guardians navigate the IEP process, explain frequently used terminology, legal rights, timelines and many other important topics. SFUSD staff, families and community groups all provided input to ensure families of students with disabilities have the tools they need to make the most of their child's education.

Will there be translations available?

Yes, it is being translated in all 6 district languages and translated versions are available in pdf and hard copy will be available soon.

When and where can families, staff and community groups access the handbook?

PDFs of the Family Handbook (in multiple languages) and hard copy order forms are being shared widely with all staff, families and community groups. You can view a pdf or order a hard copy on our website: www.sfusd.edu/sped
