Learn about SFUSD’s current budget-balancing process and timeline and get answers to your questions about the budget balancing process.
Even before the pandemic SFUSD was facing a structural deficit. There are a number of factors contributing to SFUSD’s expenses exceeding its revenue. Current projections show estimated deficits of at least $125M for the districts’ next fiscal year, 2022-23.
In order to stabilize SFUSD’s budget due to the structural deficit, the district is preparing to submit a budget balancing plan by December 15 as required by the California Department of Education.
The Town Hall on November 30 provided an opportunity for families and community to pose questions and voice their concerns and feedback to District leaders. It was one of several opportunities for community engagement, both at the district and school level, between now and the adoption of the District’s final 22-23 budget in late June, 2022.
