SFUSD Implements Internal Controls to Address Audit Findings

In Spring 2024, SFUSD was the victim of a cyber security incident which impacted 6 employees. Since then, we have completed a thorough assessment of our cyber security systems led by a 3rd-party firm. We have implemented their recommendations, including reinforcing our internal controls to stop the hack from continuing to impact district employees. These incidents were included in a routine audit of the district. 

SFUSD is actively cooperating with law enforcement to investigate a separate incident of suspicious activities that involve the fraudulent acquisition of school district funds. This is an ongoing investigation and we cannot share more details at this time. 

SFUSD is implementing best practices to ensure quality assurance and quality control. As stewards of public funds, we take seriously our responsibility to effectively manage our resources.
