Highlights March 18-22, 2019: Middle school students showcase STEAM projects; 16th annual Youth Summit empowers students Link to this section
More than 150 students at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academic Middle School will show what it looks like to combine Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) for the 4th annual STEAM Night. During two 35 to 40 minute rotations, students will share their work from project-based learning through a podcast and video exhibition, student-authored children's books, original musical instruments to teach the science of sound, an obstacle course, and original choreographed dance performances. Students will answer questions about their projects and the process of their learning. The event is an opportunity for students to showcase their work and share their student voices.

Student leadership workshops, inspirational speakers and entertainment — those are just some of the agenda items in store for the more than 250 high school students attending the 16th annual Youth Summit on Friday. The student leadership conference is hosted by SFUSD’s Student Advisory Council, a citywide, youth-led organization that is committed to providing a voice for the students of the the district by representing and presenting the interests of the students to the administrative and policy making bodies of the SFUSD.
