Highlights Nov. 26-30, 2018: Students train for weightlifting competitions; High school choir preps for performance with SF Opera Link to this section
The Weightlifting Club at Lincoln High School comprises nearly 180 SFUSD students, including four Senior World Championship members and dozens of Youth and Junior World Team members. Four current students are preparing for the upcoming Youth World Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada and American Open Finals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The club is part of USA Weightlifting and has won national championships 11 years in a row. Student champions are among the top five weightlifting competitors in the world. The club has 100% graduation rate and all alumni attend four-year universities.

The Chamber Choir at Burton High School is preparing to join the world-renowned San Francisco Opera Chorus for one of three side-by-side rehearsals, which will culminate in a joint performance in December. The partnership has been made possible through the San Francisco Opera’s Music Performance Residency Program. The Chamber Choir has previously performed at Grace Cathedral and for the SF Education Fund at the Ritz Carlton, in addition to providing free in-class concerts at Herbert Hoover and AP Giannini middle schools.
