Highlights Oct. 15-19, 2018: Anesthesiologists awaken students’ interest in field; Students showcase wearable technology Link to this section
San Francisco will welcome over 20,000 anesthesiologists this week for the annual American Society of Anesthesiologists meeting. Sixty students at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School will hear from 14 African American and Latino anesthesiologists, including SFUSD alumni, Dr. Vernon Ross, as they discuss their careers and how students can prepare for a career in Anesthesiology. African Americans and Latinos are largely underrepresented in the medical field.

Everett Middle School computer science students will showcase Circuit Art technologyat the school’s first-ever Computer Science LED lights event. The Cultural/Computer Arts Spanish/Sciences Technology and Literacy education (CASTLe) event is meant to share what students learn in computer science, emphasize creativity, and present computer science in a way that will attract more girls to participate in computer science electives. The CS-CASTLe program will have an exhibition of student Circuit Art technology.
