State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson will visit Bryant Elementary School to announce progress on California’s State Seals of Biliteracy, which signifies fluency in another language, and highlight successes in Bryant’s Spanish Biliteracy Program for English Learners.

WHY
The update on the Seal of Biliteracy represents progress in Torlakson’s Global California 2030 initiative, which seeks to rapidly expand the teaching and learning of world languages. The Global California 2030 initiative supports SFUSD’s vision to provide the opportunity for every student to become multilingual and multicultural.

ABOUT BRYANT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Bryant Elementary School educates 300 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grades. Over the last several years the staff at Bryant have been providing intentional and strategic supports for their English Learners which have resulted in significant growth in academic performance in their Spanish Biliteracy Program.
