SFUSD statement regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program Link to this section
Since 2012, SFUSD has been helping students who are eligible for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program to attain available enrollment histories and school transcripts at no cost in order to support their DACA applications. It has enabled graduates to contribute to their communities by significantly increasing opportunities for higher education and jobs.
“SFUSD will continue to support and protect all students regardless of immigration status and uphold San Francisco’s Sanctuary Policy,” said Superintendent Dr. Vincent Matthews.
In support of its policies, which includes the Undocumented, Unafraid and United Students Resolution, SFUSD partners with the San Francisco Immigrant Legal & Education Network to provide both student and staff workshops on the DACA program, including access to available legal services. SFUSD leadership also meets with the Mayor's Office and the Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs to identify ways to increase and improve supports for students and families.
“Here in the San Francisco Unified School District, we put our policies where our mouth is,” said Board of Education President Shamann Walton. “We will work to make sure that all our children using DACA will be able to access all the same educational opportunities as their peers. This is their home too.”
