Making robots & going global: Highlights for April 4 - 10, 2017 Link to this section
Seventh-graders at Willie Brown Middle School have been working on robotics projects in teams composed of a mechanical engineer, an electrical engineer and a computer engineer as part of the school’s hands-on, project-based Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum. Students will present their projects at the Robotics Celebration of Learning Night, where families can see fully-functional robotic arms and freight elevators.
When: Thursday, April 6 / 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Where: Willie Brown Middle School, 2055 Silver Avenue (Room B206)
After eight years of learning either Cantonese of Mandarin, 57 Alice Fong Yu eighth-grade students embarked on a two-week journey to China, with stops at Beijing, Xi’an and Hong Kong. After attending classes at local schools and staying with host families, students are excited to share how they bridged cultural divides and built community through this capstone journey.
