JENNY LAM is President of the San Francisco Board of Education and has served as a member since 2019. She brings a student-first approach to her work that is informed by her being a public school parent.
Lam is also the Director of Policy and Strategic Partnerships, Office of Early Care and Education and previously served as Education Advisor to Mayor London N. Breed.
Prior to joining the City and County of San Francisco, Jenny was State Engagement Manager at the national organization, Education Superhighway– bringing affordable high speed internet and technology infrastructure to public schools across the country.
For twenty five years, Jenny has devoted her career to public service and social change. She has served in a number of executive leadership positions with nonprofit organizations, including Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA) in San Francisco where she led education initiatives and worked to expand civil and political rights for immigrant youth and families.
Born and raised in the East Bay Area, daughter of Chinese immigrants, she was a first generation college student, and earned her Bachelors of Arts double major in Political Science and Asian American Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Jenny lives in San Francisco with her husband and two children both who attend public schools.
