I need a school for 2024-25 and have not applied before.

Gather your required documents, then complete and Submit Your 2024-25 Application

You have two remaining opportunities to be assigned to a school.

Now: Wait Pool

Submit a Wait Pool application now for one school. The deadline to apply for Wait Pool is August 7, 2024. You will be notified starting August 14, 2024 if there is a space available at that school for your student. Please see here for more information about Wait Pool, or go ahead and submit an Online Application (Learn how to submit an online application).

Beginning July 8: New to SF Enrollment

This is for families who are new to San Francisco and/or have not previously applied for SFUSD schools for SY 2024-25. New-to-SF Enrollment will begin on July 8, 2024. Find more information about New to SF enrollment at sfusd.edu/new-to-sf-enrollment.

IMPORTANT: Ruth Asawa School of the Arts (SOTA) and Lowell High School have different application processes and deadlines. The deadline to apply to Lowell High School for 9th grade General Education, or to Ruth Asawa SOTA for 2024-25 has passed.

I applied for 2024-2025 in the Main Round and/or Round 2, and want to try for a different school.

If you submitted a Round 2 application, you must wait until you receive your school assignment result the week of May 27 before applying again.

You have two remaining opportunities to be assigned to a school.

Wait Pool

You can try for a different school using our Wait Pool process. During the Wait Pool round, all applicants can apply to just one school. The deadline to apply is August 7, 2024. Please click here for more information about Wait Pool.

Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is an opportunity for any students to transfer to any school with an open seat and no Wait Pool requests. Open Enrollment will begin on July 15, 2024. Find more information about Open Enrollment at sfusd.edu/open-enrollment.

SFUSD staff applying to the same school they currently work at

If you are a permanent, full-time site based district staff member who lives in San Francisco AND one of the schools you are applying to includes the same school that you currently work at, please write or enter your SFUSD ID on your application.

If you applied already and did not receive an assignment to the school where you currently work and you wish to have your child attend school there, you can submit an appeal and be granted an approval. Information on how to file an appeal will be included in your Round 2 assignment letter, which will arrive the week of May 27.

Required Documents

All new applicants need to submit required documents. Please gather these documents and have them ready when filling out your application.

Language Assessment

For admission to most SFUSD language programs, SFUSD conducts language assessments to evaluate the applicant's proficiency in the program language. Depending on the program you're applying to, your student may need to pass a language assessment in order to be eligible. For dual immersion programs, applicants do not need to be proficient in the language in order to apply. However, applicants who pass the language assessment typically have an easier time getting into the program, because some seats are reserved for native speakers.

If your student is proficient in the program language, you should contact the Enrollment Center when you submit the application to confirm whether your student needs to complete a language assessment.
