Pre-K-12th Grade Spanish Language Programs Kindergarten-8th Grade Dual Language Immersion Open to English Learners who are native Spanish speakers, bilingual students (Spanish and English), and English proficient students. Instruction is 80% in Spanish, 20% in English. All students are eligible regardless of language proficiency. TK-5th Grade Dual Language Immersion Open to English Learners who are native Spanish speakers, bilingual students (Spanish and English), and English proficient students. In K, instruction is 80% Spanish, 20% in English, decreasing to 50% by grade 5. Kindergarten-5th Grade Biliteracy Open to English Learners, bilingual students. This program is designed for English Learners and bilingual students who are native Spanish speakers. Students applying for Kindergarten or 1st grade whose home language is Spanish are eligible. 6th-8th Grade Dual Language Immersion Open to English Learners who are native Spanish speakers, bilingual students (Spanish and English), and English proficient students. Courses include Intermediate level Spanish World Language and Social Studies courses taught in Spanish. 6th-8th Grade World Language Spanish World Language is taught as an elective course. All students are eligible regardless of language proficiency. Schools may have internal assessments to place students in appropriate levels. 9th-12th Grade World Language Students are required to complete two years or 20 credits of a World Language, or demonstrate proficiency using another method to graduate from high school. 2-3 sequential years of study in the same World Language recommended for admission to UC/CSU.
